 2014 Trainers

1st Place Winner

Cheyenne Emerson: Cheyenne enjoys training horses, barrel race, going on trail riding, pretty much anything to do with horse.  Cheyenne did a beautiful job in the 2014 Extreme Rescue Makeover with her partner, Little Bro.

2nd Place Winner

Joey Houtekamer: Joey Houtekamer of Manteca, CA. Joey says: "As a kid I had limited exposure to horses and horseback riding - doing a little at a local stable, tagging along after my older sister -- wishing I was bigger and could have my own horse. Finally, now in my twenties...and a bit "bigger" I have had the opportunity to ride and learn training techniques. In the past two years I have been following and learning training techniques (Clinton Anderson's method) under the supervision of Mindy Konradi. Last year 2013,I was lucky enough to be given a colt to put my training to the test...and have had great results. I couldn't wait to have the chance to get involved in horse rescue and participate in the competition put on by the Horse Plus Humane Society. If you are looking for someone to train your horse in a gentle humane way please don't hesitate to contact me at 209-481-5053

3rd Place Winner

Anny Byrns: Like her mother, Ann loved horses from the start, and she has been lucky to have in her life since she was little. Ann been influenced by many talented trainers, but her particular favorites are Bob Sadowski and Carolyn Resnick.  Horses have taught Ann so much, she says, especially Mustangs. Some of you may know about her mare, Winnie, who walked beside me for 300 miles in 2009.

Making a horse a soft, supple willing partner you can control with a feather light touch. Contact Mindy Konradi at 209-981-7931 for more information if you would like to have her train your horse.

2nd Place Winner

Megan Hughes of Stockton, CA. As a horse trainer and a practitioner trainer,  she use the method of all natural horsemanship, which is a philosophy of working with horses based on the idea of working with the horse's nature, using an understanding of how horses think and communicate to train the horse to accept humans and work confidently and responsively with her. Her goals are to make the horse feel safe and secure around humans so that the horse and rider can achieve a partnership.

3rd Place Winner

Tara Gallison of Greenville, CA -  Tara Gallison has been training horses since a young age. She has been starting colts and helping problem horses since the age of 14. She played Polo and competed in Eventing through high school. Tara is a certified farrier and enjoys being able to help horses be more comfortable through balancing their feet. A few years ago she discovered the Reining and Reined Cow Horse world and she knew this was the ultimate test for natural horsemanship. These sports inspired her to pursue a higher level of horsemanship. She is currently getting ready to compete on horses she has started and trained for these events. She strives to get her horses respectful, willing, soft, supple, and safe. She works on developing the "thinking side" of the horse's brain vs. the "reactive side". She has dedicated a lot of time and energy to learning Clinton Anderson's Downunder Horsemanship Method, and uses this method to start colts, help problem horses, and train her show horses for Reining and Reined Cow Horse events.
